The sound of a teaser trailer is one of the main parts to the trailer's production. The sound is what puts together all the scenes to a trailer which finishes it off, without sound, horror trailers wouldn't be terrifying or effect and would take the trill away as the sound gives realism to whalers happening. The sound is what builds the suspense throughout. The Jump scare productions' soundtrack will feature sound effects which create a enigma and thrilling moments within different cuts to create the tension that the audience will feel. Our group has included different inspirations that our production team find effective and will use some of these sound tracks in our final piece.
Inspirations
A Nightmare on Elm StreetThe sound track used in Nightmare on elm street particularly inspired our group through the use of drones/ ascending notes. In the beginning of this trailer the sound matches the scene as the victim was running there was an upbeat track along with him building up the tension and mystery, then as he enters the building he traps himself away from the rest the sound gets slower using some of the effects for example the drones. After the scene of the fire, the sound stops and is slowly used by used deep beats in line with the character talking creating a climax as the beat starts to increase in speed. About half way through the trailer theres a little girl singing with could also come across as thrilling/ frightening, this also allows the audience to link the film to someone to do with children or whats happened back in the characters childhood. The lyrics in the the children rhyme relate to the films swell such as "Seven and eight, stay awake" and "nine, ten, never sleep again". As the trailer hits the montage the sound track is fast as if its set to keep up with all the scenes to create a climx just before the final jump scare/ scream.

The Conjuring 2The sound track used in The Conjuring 2 trailer also inspired us as a group as it starts off with a low sound effect in the background as the characters are sitting in a circle digesting the situation, The sound track only starts playing about one quarter of the way in, this is started off by the drone effect which starts to create the feeling of suspense and mystery. This drone is sounds slightly religious which could represent the binary opposites between good vs the devil and the devil sees children as being venerable therefore uses them to enter the real world. When the mum says "do you feel like the voice is coming from inside you' an alien like sound track is played in the background, this could connote "the other" is involved in this trailer. Just before the montage the soundtrack is paused and then comes on with a bang while the girl screams after the jump scare is preformed. A lot f swooshes are used with the montage as if its trying to keep up with the scenes/ cuts creating tension and enigma of what actually happening.

Lights OutThe trailer lights out also inspired my team as we thought this related well to the concept and could also use some of the sound mixes tin our trailer to make it as effective as this one. This trailer starts off with a natural nature effect as its filmed out side to show an establishing shot of where the film is set. Once the scene cuts to inside the sound is also cut and the only thing you can hear is the woman switching on and off her light, the sense of silence creates an slow effect of suspense building up just before the jump scare after she switches her light on and off to many times and the creature gets close. As the jump scare is preformed a loud bang is used to get the full of effect of the audience jumping, this is when the drones starts with an occasional high pitch key playing from a piano also creating the frightening effect like somethings going to happen. The occasional swoosh is used to create that effect of someone being there/ stalking the victimm. The piano is used quite a lot throughout the slow parts of the trailer which is conventional as its frightening.

Dead AwakeOur group through this trailer worked well with our concept as its all to do about falling asleep the then being vulnerable, or paralyzed etc. Therefore our group thought this soundtrack works well with what we are planning to do with our teaser trailer as this trailer starts off with a high pitch screech as the camera shows an high establishing shot over the city. The next shot goes straight into a load drone as it shows the victim in bed, heavy breath is overlapped, this gives the audience a feeling that someone else is in the room along with the victim especially as the room blurs allowing the character to become vulnerable. The trailer then goes on to use more conventional drones along with the dialogue used. Just before a loud drone is used the sound goes quiet, this is done to create a climax so that the audience is expecting a jump scare but it doesn't actually happen so when the final jump scare is preformed its more frightening for the audience.

Sound Effects found using Youtube
Here I have found a sound effect which is very conventional in horror films and is used quite a lot to build tension, tricking the audience to see a jump scare as it hits its climax. These ascending notes are usually used with the string instruments such as a violin because it gives the high, building effect of something big about to happen.

This video uses different sound effects, using different instruments. About half way through it a young girl is singing "then we will kill you" and ends with a scream. the next bit is fast strip instruments being used, then whispering is used to create the effect that theres people around you even if you can't see anything.

I have included this within my sound effect choices as, as a group we like the effect of a child singing a nursery rhyme that has been adapted to seem terrifying, this is done through the effect of a neglected child that is singing this miserably which creates tension.

I have included this within my sound effect choices as, as a group we like the effect of a child singing a nursery rhyme that has been adapted to seem terrifying, this is done through the effect of a neglected child that is singing this miserably which creates tension. This has been taken from "Nightmare on Elm street" and will not be allowed to be used in our tailer as it could be considered as copyright.

This video uses different sound effects, using different instruments such as the classic music box, piano and symphony.

This is a loud explosion sound effect which can be used when text is shown on screen or on a jump scare as its loud and quick which is also spontaneous therefore would be effective towards the end of our teaser trailer. This sound is very conventional to the horror genre.

Heres a screenshot of us choosing the sound track on youtube that we chose as our backing track. We decided this was a good backing track because that alongside other tracks we will merge together will create a lot of tension throughout the trailer. This create more of an effect that will make the audience feel on the edge of their seat as they watch the trailer.

Screenshots of sound mix
Here is some screenshots of us starting to merge the sound draft of sounds that we will possibly be using in our trailer. We designed the sounds in a way that was creative and worked together that created tension for the audience. We have used the Logic Pro X software to create this. We have used sounds effects from Logic Pro X and sounds we have found and downloaded from you tube and other sites.
Rough Horror sound track
This sound track has been created on the Logic Pro X software where we have merged and layered different sound effects and sound tracks that we have found/ downloaded from different websites to create a rough sound mix that we will use for our trailer, this sound mix will then my layered over the animatic to show how our trailer is planned out to look like in rough.
